Fides is a company that is specialized in breeding and propagation of cut Chrysanthemums, pot Chrysanthemums, Kalanchoe, decorative Kalanchoe (Calandiva®), Pelargonium, Osteospermum, Impatiens New Guinea, pot Dahlia, Garden Mums, Petunia, Nemesia, Calibrachoa and pot Aster.

Origins
In 1967, Messrs Flikweert, Van Dijk and Van Steekelenburg together founded the Fides company, deriving the name from the first letters of their surnames. In doing so, they were the first ones to start breeding their own cut flower Chrysanthemums. The company grew fast and sales increased. The continuously expanding assortment of high quality and unique cut flower Chrysanthemums yielded a profit. Success upon success was achieved with top varieties such as Westland, Cassa, Majoor Bosshardt, Tiger and Stallion.

Kalanchoe
In 1970, the company decided to breed Kalanchoe independently and propagate them from seed. Product improvement and responding to customer’s wishes led to the decision to change over to the propagation of cutting material. Going for Kalanchoe proved to be the right choice: sales figures were good.

Propagation abroad
In order to further improve our starting material and delivery reliability, from 1975 onwards, propagation of our products has been taking place under the most ideal conditions by our own companies in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Read more about this here.

The discovery of Calandiva®
After the discovery of a spectacular Kalanchoe mutation in 1998 (this splendid Kalanchoe flower had 32 petals instead of 4) and further breeding, Fides presented in 2002 the world's first decorative (double flowered) Kalanchoe variations. These special varieties were introduced to the market as a new series, under the name Calandiva®.

Nowadays
These days, our products find their way to 46 countries on all continents. This means that Fides is one of the great players in this field. Worldwide, we are one of the top 4 of cut flower Chrysanthemum breeders with quality products as Bacardi, Arctic Queen and Feeling Green Dark. Next to that, we are market leader in the field of double flowered, decorative Kalanchoe (Calandiva®). Breeding takes place in The Netherlands, Denmark, Spain and the United Kingdom. Fides has sales offices in The Netherlands, Germany and North America. These offices and an extensive network of agents ensure optimum worldwide distribution of our products. Fides employs around 1,700 people in total, of which approximately 170 work in The Netherlands.

Fides is part of the DNA Greep Group. DNA Green Group is a leading floricultural breeding companies focused on cut flowers (chrysanthemum, carnations and rose), pot plants (kalanchoe, pot mums and poinsettia), bedding plants (geranium, petunia etc) and perennials.
